BIUST evacuated after bomb scare

PALAPYE: Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) students and employees were on Tuesday afternoon forced to evacuate classes and offices following a bomb scare at the institution.

In a press release sent by BIUST’s acting director, communications and public telations, Keoagile Rafifing, said that on Tuesday afternoon, they received a message from an anonymous source that there was a bomb at the university premises.

“On Tuesday afternoon, we received a message from an unknown source advising us to evacuate students and staff from classes and offices since there was a bomb which would explode anytime. The university administration immediately informed the Botswana Police Service (BPS).  All staff members, students and contractors were evacuated from the premises to a secure and safe place,” said Rafifing.
