The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is slowly moving away from its tradition of holding the Natiational Council in March of every year.

The party has already indicated that its primary elections will be held after the National Council, but is yet to announce the date and venue.

The BDP National Council assists the party with policies, gives guidance on how party critical issues/conflicts are resolved, while waiting for approval from the BDP Congress. The National Council also brings motions on topics which the party may view as important issues to be debated at the Congress.

Some BDP members are already complaining that time is not on their side, arguing that the National Council should be held as soon as possible "We are worried that the party central committee has not yet decided dates for party activities and the month for the National Council. It is always advisable to hold primary elections well in time so that there is time to deal with appeals from results and give counselling to those who lost," a source told MmegiOnline. When responding to MmegiOnline on the issue, BDP spokesperson, Kagelelo Kentse, said there is no indication yet from the party on when National Council will be held.

Each of the 10 beautiful young women had supporters...
