Serowe-born, Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Women’s Wing Chairperson, and also a Minister in President Masisi’s cabinet is rallying Ma-domkrag to be united and back President Mokgweetsi Masisi for the 2019 Presidential bid and reject any attempts to destabilise the Party by voting for any other candidate.

Makgato used a short video recording which is currently going viral amongst Ma-domkrag, urging them that  this is not the  right time to vote  for any other person, especially with few months left before the General Elections.

In the  short video message,  Makgato emphasises that  last year  at  their  Mogoditshane  National Council, the Women’s Wing  met  to decide,  amongst others, their role in the coming  General Elections in order to help  the BDP to continue to rule this country.

“ We agreed at the  Assembly in one accord that this year is a very critical one; we recognised that we had recently  ushered in a new President into office, and that  this year  we will be continuing to  rally behind the presidency of  Rre Masisi towards the General Elections”.

According to Makgato, as the chairperson, she spearheaded the endorsement of  President Masisi as the president of the party for  two consecutive terms, or 10 years, as it has been the tradition with the past presidents of the Party. Makgato also  says  she had taken the  same matter to her constituency, Sefhare-Ramkgonami, who have also  endorsed  President Masisi as the Party President.

“Thirdly, I for one I do not think it is strategic for us  as Ma-Domkrag,  on the eve of the elections, to be  entertaining the  idea of  electing a new President. It is suicidal to entertain the idea of challenging the President at this time; in fact given the environment, the political climate, it is very important to  ring fence, and rally  around the President of the country”.

BDP elder,  David Magang, a former cabinet Minister in Sir Seretse Khama,  and Masire and Mogae’s cabinet has also released  a similar recording, speaking to Ma-Domkrag and urging them to rally behind President Masisi and give him the opportunity to serve Batswana.

Magang  says in his short time in the Presidency, Masisi is proving to be reconciliatory, committed to nation building, committed to effectively tackling unemployment issues by seeking investments outside the country, and therefore deserving of backing to continue the  good work.

What about employees in private sector?

How can this be achieved when there already is little care about the working conditions of those within the private sector employ? For a long time, private sector employees have been neglected by their employers, not because they cannot do better to care for them, but because they take advantage of government's laxity when it comes to protecting and advocating for public sector employees, giving the cue to employers within the private sector...
