The Botswana Democratic Party's (BDP) Central Committee (CC) is convening to deliberate on the Bulela Ditswe appeals submitted for consideration.
The Bulela-Ditswe process, which involves appeals related to party candidate selections, is a crucial part of the party's internal procedures. After receiving decisions from the 14 regional party committees, the CC, which possesses the final authority, will either uphold or overturn the rulings. Furthermore, the party's constitution grants any member the right to appeal directly to the CC if they disagree with a regional committee's decision. Additionally, members who believe that a regional committee is conflicted on an issue can likewise appeal directly to the CC, provided they submit supporting evidence. Since Sunday, the CC has been in session and is expected to conclude its deliberations by Friday. Currently, the CC is handling over 100 appeals. However, BDP secretary-general Kavis Kario remarked declined to shed light on the process. "I cannot comment on anything regarding appeals since they are before the committee," he said. Notably, amongst the appeals filed with the CC are those related to the Mmadinare, Lentsweletau-Lephephe, Goodhope-Mmathethe and Ramotswa constituencies.
