FRANCISTOWN: Members of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Francistown region have pledged their support for Botsalo Ntuane who is vying for the position of party Secretary General (SG). Ntuane was in Francistown accompanied by members of his campaign team, which included the likes of Odirile Motlhale and Macdonald Peloetletse. Some members of the North East region also attended the weekend meeting.

Although Ntuane is not aligned to any lobby list leading to the July party’s congress, members supporting different lobby groups at the meeting endorsed him.

While Ntuane’s opponents in the race are yet to publicly confirm their candidature – BDP primary election rules and regulations bar candidates from talking to the media – Gaothaetse Matlhabaphiri, Olebeng Ngwakwena and Kefentse Muzwinila are reported to be vying for the position. A close source that attended the internal meeting said that all party members were impressed by Ntuane’s campaign message, which emphasises on reforms in order to turn the ruling party into an appealing organisation.
