'Bayport fraudster, accomplice' granted bail

FRANCISTOWN: A Bayport Financial Services Botswana sales agent and his accomplice who allegedly obtained P269,000 from a woman using false pretences were yesterday granted bail.

However, the alleged mastermind of the crime was denied bail. According to the charge sheet, the agent, Mauba Moreti, 32, Morekolodi Moseki, 28, and Michael Gabatshabe, 23, acting together with a common purpose by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained P269,000 from Bridget Thobolo by falsely pretending themselves as people capable of multiplying money when in actual fact and in truth they knew that to be false.

The accused allegedly committed the offence on February 3 in Francistown.
