A 23-year-old bar assistant from Metlojane village is hospitalised after he was stabbed with a sharp object on Saturday night at a local drinking spot.

Goodhope Police Station commander, Superintendent Mogogi Mathaba said the victim was stabbed whilst controlling movement of patrons following the midnight closure of the bar. "A known young man who is still at large stabbed the victim after they were involved in a misunderstanding for allegedly forcing entry into the bar following its closure," he said. "The victim, who had failed to report the matter, sustained a deep wound on his left side of the chest. We received the report of the matter on Sunday morning from his grandmother after she discovered that he was stabbed." Mathaba added they have since launched a probe to locate and arrest the suspect, also a resident of Metlojane who is still at large. The suspect faces a charge of grievous bodily harm.
