Yesterday during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Ian Khama, a twar between controversial Btv news anchor and a Tweeter user diverted social media attention away from the #SONA2015.
The twar which was sparked by a disparaging tweet by the Btv news anchor commenting on Btv’s coverage of the #SONA2015 saying “Omphile Sehurutshe makes fumbling fashionable and the female cohost should quit trying to present #SONA2015 what a disastrous production”
A user replied, “o bona hela o bua sente ousi?”
The tweet sparked insults and led to a focus on the meaning of the Setswana word “ausi” or “ousi”.
According to Setswana dictionary, Thalosi Ya Medi Ya Setswana, 'ausi' means big sister but it turns out that some parts of Botswana the word has a different meaning.
