ABM College struggles with results cock-up

Scores of students could be seen sitting under a tree in front of the administration block on Thursday and Friday with queries over their results. Students claimed their transcripts had their names, but different student numbers and results belonging to the owner of the number. Some are yet to receive their results.

"There was a terrible mix-up with my results - the names were mine, but the student number reflected was not and the results probably belonged to the owner of that number," a distraught student told Mmegi. Another student said upon querying her results, she was told they had forgotten to include course work. Students also questioned the P500 fee the college had charged each one of them who wanted a re-marking.

The Student Representative Council (SRC) president, Koitsiwe Koitsiwe, said it was baffling that the institution wanted students to take supplementary examinations before sorting out the 'exams saga'. Yesterday, the college's management insisted that students sit for supplementary examinations that were scheduled to run up to Saturday. Students were to pay a fee of P250 per module, which Koitsiwe said was not acceptable. He pointed out that they were not fighting management, but needed the issue ironed out before the supplementary exams can go ahead.
