Dear Artiste! Cogito ergo sum!

I will not accept those that think that what we do, as arts activists and practitioners, are not real jobs. You say I should get a job, a sensible one that sustains me, but here is the thing: there is no easy job that will make sense to everyone, especially in the creative industry.

Here is the thing though, when you are told to never trust anyone, it means that I am not going to go around explaining why I put face paint on and adopt a persona calling myself Maya instead of Palesa. It is not a journey where I am seeking validation from ignoramuses, and others that are intimidated by difference, uniqueness and all this jazz.
