Tamokate Wins Oldies Pageant

The 59-year-old Sheila Tamokate has won the Miss Independence Oldies pageant that was organised by the Old Naledi community. Tamokate, who hails from Nkange, emerged victorious on Saturday after beating eleven other contestants at the Old Naledi Community Hall.

The pageant, which was well attended, was the first of its kind in Old Naledi. Proceeds from the pageant will go towards buying food for independence celebrations.

Tamokate proved to be the crowd’s favourite from the start given the roaring applause she received when she walked confidently onto the stage. After pushing through to the top five, she impressed the judges and the crowd with her answer about the three dikgosi who had gone to England to seek protection. She won herself a night at the Grand Palm hotel and pampering at a beauty parlour.
