FRANCISTOWN: All roads led to Molapo Leisure Garden as multitudes of people here and surrounding areas came to witness the first ever performance by South African music giants Big Zulu ,Ami Faku and Blaq Diamond.
The trio renowned South African musicians made their first appearance in the second city at African Attire on fleek event held on Saturday. The event which was divided into three sessions kick started with some local DJ’s mesmerising the attendants with local and international mixes of different genres.
During the morning session, the attendants came with their families dressed to kill with their African Attire to celebrate African garments. Surprisingly, some of the local artist who were supposed to perform before the trio South African artists did not come through. Few minutes before the renowned local artist Sereetsi and The Natives was supposed to be on stage, the outfit announced through its official Facebook page that it will not be playing due to failure by promoters to deliver on their contractual obligations. On the other hand, Big Zulu who was supposed to be the first international act of the night also came late for the performance due to traffic delay. The Inhlupheko singer who was billed to perform at around 6pm went on stage at 10pm and had the crowed eating out of his palms with his tracks Isiginci, Imali engingi and Umuzi Esandton.
When she got to the stage in the wee hours, Ami Faku dished out her track Into Ingawe followed by Asibe Happy, Abalele, which had the crowd singing along.
The merrymakers who filled the garden to maximum capacity could not get enough of the musician and they were yearning for more even after close to an hour of performing uninterrupted.
Blaq Diamond left no stone unturned with their songs Ibhanoyi which is currently enjoying commendable airplay on both local and international airplay.
During the performance more socialites, business gurus in the city thronged the event making it one of the memorable events in the city.
The sensational singers put up a spirited show with Summer Yo Muthi a like the event promoters promised.
Blaq diamond performance also attracted cheers and applause in the middle of their performance.
Legendary Ndingo Johwa gave a sensational performance with his Kalanga songs which had the crowd singing and dancing along. Some of the performance for the events included Kabelo Tiro, Nono Siele, DJ Goviea and others.
