According to organisers, the Miss Culture International pageant is a platform created for culture exchange and gives contestants an opportunity to showcase the cultural pride of their nations as well as preserving that culture. The pageant focuses on bringing together women from different cultures to learn from each other and find common ground in pursuit of a transformation and change agenda. The pageant also strives to promote tourism of all countries represented during the event.
In an interview with Arts & Culture, an elated Monwametsi said it is a great honour for her to be Botswana’s first representative at the pageant and hopes to bring the crown home. “I will be representing Botswana at the Miss Culture International 2021 at Gold Reef in Johannesburg, South Africa from November 28 to December 4, 2021.
There will be over 42 contestants competing for the tittle. I am hoping to put more effort to bring the crown back home,” said Monwametsi. Monwametsi also said, “I believe God is my strength and I live upon the motto that hard work pays. In my life I am inspired by lot of people but the person who inspires me the most is my father.
I also look up to Mpule Kwelagobe. That’s why I started inspiring young girls under the Botswana Bikini Model beauty pageant.” According to Monwametsi, participating at the Miss Culture International 2021 will help promote Botswana culture and tourism. She said if she gets crowned Miss Culture International 2021, she will use the opportunity promote the “beauty of tourism and culture in all corners of the world through different platforms to help it recover from the COVID-19 effects." It is said that the winner of the pageant will walk away with a car, trophy and cash amounting to R100,000.
