Talented fine artist and fashion designer, Wabi Blues who is the owner of MmaBotswana brand and concept will host a 200km+ sponsored walk on December 3, 2021.

Wabi Blues, real name Tshegofatso Tlholwe, revealed in an interview that the walk will take about a week or more to complete. “I will be starting from the Gaborone bus rank to Mogoditshane-Gabane-Kumakwane-Thamaga-Moshupa-Kanye-Molapowabojang-Lobatse-Boatle then back tothe Gaborone bus rank, " she explained.

Wabi Blues added that the sponsored walk is done mainly to raise funds for the platform so that they could buy equipments. “I once mentioned that MmaBotswana is Botswana living as a creative platform and she is telling her story as a talented creator. She works with the unemployed youth specifically those who didn’t do well in their JC/BGCSE. This is meant to help narrate Botswana’s story through music, fashion, arts and craft, dance, poetry, animation, film, comedy and so on,” she highlighted.

Wabbi Blues also said the sponsored walk was inspired by the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected all the business sectors and has distributed a loss (both emotionally and monetary) across the country and globally. She said the creative arts are one of the hard hit sectors as events and activities had to shut down leaving a large number of youth without a source of income.

“The rise in youth unemployment reached its highest in the first two years of the pandemic, affecting the economy, not just here but globally. We are planning to partner with the youth department because it deals with youth ideas. We want to help build a momentum for the sponsored walk,” Wabbi Blues further revealed.
