In 2014, two Batswana women; Basadi Dibeela and Zandile Rammekwa came together to conceptualise and event inspired by the growing worldwide trend of day food events. The arrangement now contributes to social causes.

After hosting he first event, the ladies were joined by a third partner, Game Bantsi who recognised their vision. Five years later they grew a brand that has influenced the Botswana lifestyle event scene.

Quite like it, Jam for Brunch (JFB) is still jamming five years later thanks to Batswana’s new found love for food and appreciation of live music. The event has seen the need to give back and get in touch with its community.

This year, JFB is making a more concerted effort to engage in Corporate Social Investment.

“Jamming for Good is a concept that reassures Batswana that Jam for Brunch is here to stay for good. The outfit is aware that doing good business is good business. As a business model, JFB pledges to help bring social change,” Rammekwa, JFB Co-Founder, said in a press statement.

“For instance, over the years, it has worked with different NGOs in Botswana such as Nayang Association- Shoes for Soles, SOS Children’s Village, Dare to Dream and the Sir Ketumile Masire Foundation to contribute and mobilise their various social causes.”

She further asserted that Jamming for Good’s first official solo assignment is to donate school shoes to the students of Nxaranga Primary School in Maun.  Jam for Brunch had its first event outside of Gaborone in December 2018.  They helped contribute a small part to the Maun community.  “The Jamming for Good shoe drive collects 120 pairs of shoes for the students of the satellite school. We appeal to our jammers to help us realise this dream and help keep feet warm this winter by donating school shoes,” Rammekwa added. She added that Jam for Brunch’s success is owed to its attendees who have helped grow the brand into a household name.

Rammekwa also appealed to their clients to raise awareness and help make a difference in the lives of young Batswana.

“Jamming for Good will become a more regular occurrence with JFB taking on different social causes with the help of NGOs and the general public,” she said. The appeal is as follows: The Jamming for Good Shoe drive will benefit 120 students in Maun. Those who wish to donate to the cause are urged to go to their nearest Pep Store and buy a voucher for school shoes and drop off the Vouchers at Webtickets Riverwalk. The school shoes will be delivered in Maun end of July 2019.
