A local performing arts group, Ikakanyeng Performing Artists, will this weekend host a two-day drama show at Maitisong in Gaborone.

The show will start on Friday November 26-27, 2021. In an interview, the group's public relations officer, Thandie Shuping said this year’s show boasts an hour long, spiritual and metaphoric theatrical piece called, "The Clean Sheet". She explained that it was an imaginary drama with three plots being Heaven, Earth and the Womb.

The play is expected to ignite revellers’ imagination. “Tickets are available at P100 admission for one day and P150 for a two-day special. We also have t-shirts on sale for P100. Unlike many shows we have put up before, this one has a cast of less than 10 people altogether and there is one main character on which the story is based, and three main supporting characters that play a vital role in the unfolding of the story," she said.

She said their four main characters were Seakanyo, Trigger, Pearl and Tracy adding that supporting roles will be played by Phenyo and Thandie and Kennedy on the drums under the direction of Dops Baipidi.

The theatre group was formed and directed by Dops Baipidi. The group has been participating and doing well in the President’s Day Competitions. However, Shuping pointed out that their reliance was not only on the government adding that they also partner with the private Sector. She said their annual show has been running successfully for two years now.
