Sowa Challenge attracts 55 golfers :: Mmegi Online

FRANCISTOWN: Sowa Golf Club will host its first Northern Golf Challenge tomorrow. The event is expected to attract 55 golfers from clubs in the north. Barclays Bank of Botswana has donated P40, 000 to sponsor the tournament.

Top golfers, David Bestman, Collin Ntabe, Shane Granger and Victor Thapelo are the favourites to lift the trophy. Sowa Golf Club chairman, Simon Ramphethu said each club will field five players who will also compete in individual categories.

He explained that the winner of the one-day 18-hole tournament will be determined by the gross score and prizes will be awarded to the top three. "We will look at the gross score of the top three winners. Almost 55 golfers have confirmed that they will take part in the tournament," Ramphethu said. Barclays head of business banking (north), Eva Mwila said they are sponsoring the tournament for the first time.
