Botswana Movement for Democracy(BMD) interim leader, Gomolemo Motswaledi, appears unfazed though his property has been attached.

Though deputy sheriffs have attached his property for auction if he does not pay his debts, Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) interim leader Gomolemo Motswaledi appears unfazed. On Saturday, he said he is ready for civil imprisonment over the debts he incurred in his unsuccessful court action challenging President Ian Khama's constitutional powers.

Addressing a BMD rally in Gaborone West over the weekend, Motswaledi said he has no qualms about going to jail for the estimated P351,000 debt he owes in legal costs. "Some days back when we were preparing for this rally, Botsalo Ntuane (interim BMD deputy chairman) called me and suggested we cancel the rally so that we can save the money to pay for the legal costs, especially that Splash music group is very expensive. He suggested that the money we will pay the group will come in handy in paying the debt. However, I told him no. We should continue with the rally and have Splash come and entertain the people. I am ready to go to jail and maybe I should even start practicing songs that I will sing there... with other prisoners. For me it will be an honour if they were to imprison me," he said.
