Zimbabwean 'Prophets/ granted bail

FRANCISTOWN: Two Zimbabweans accused of cheating a fellow church member by alleging they could solve her problems were on Friday granted bail by Francistown Magistrate Kenneth Obeng.

Prophet Joseph Banda and Pastor Andrea Mwayama are alleged to have fraudulently obtained the sum of P11,100 from Tirelo Potlako between December and January 2010. The two accused are said to have tricked the complainant into believing that they could solve her problems, including the profitability of her hair salon.

The magistrate, who was visibly angry with the state, said in his view, he could not establish the particulars of the offence. "I don't think any court can remand someone for this kind of act," he said.
