Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) has petitioned the Ministry of Health over nurses who were fired for defying a court order to return to work during the civil sector strike last year.

In a letter handed to the ministry's Deputy Permanent Secretary Ontlametse Mokopakgosi recently, BOFEPUSU says that workers are "extremely disturbed" that more than 400 people who were dismissed unfairly are unable to provide for their families.

BOFEPUSU condemns what it describes as "discriminatory and selective employment process" that left out a "quality workforce" cadre when government re-employed. "BOFEPUSU demands that you take responsibility and immediately return these workers to their workplaces."
