BDP women rally behind Khama

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Women's Wing president, Angelinah Sengalo, has called for unity within the BDP urging the mother body to take a leaf from the women who are not divided.

Speaking against the background of the BDP split that saw Barata-Phathi leaders like Gomolemo Motswaledi and Botsalo Ntuane forming the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD), Sengalo said they support President Ian Khama's stand on disciplining errant party members.  She said this weekend the women will descend on Old Naledi and hold a massive rally where Khama will be the lead speaker.

Observers see this move as a sequel to the previous Francistown rally where Khama and his supporters lambasted and dismissed the dissidents who broke away from the party and at the same time discouraging BDP faithful from following suit to the BMD fold.
