BDP in hunt for new candidate

Following the two-month suspension slapped on Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) secretary general and recall from the Gaborone Central constituency candidate Gomolemo Motswaledi from both the party politburo and constituency, party president Ian Khama is said to have assigned the BDP Electoral Board to find a new candidate.

In an interview with Mmegi yesterday, BDP executive secretary Dr Comma Serema said: "His Excellency President Khama has tasked the Electoral Board to look for a new candidate, as Motswaledi's suspension runs for two months and as you know we go for general elections in October, which is in two months.

That is why H.E. has ordered the board to look for a candidate to represent the party in that constituency."
