Mayor tels clls to stop throwing epithets

FRANCISTOWN: The Mayor of Francistown City Council (FCC), Shadreck Nyeku has urged councilors to stop epithets when addressing one another especially in the chambers where it had become excessive this the past year.

Nyeku said this when delivering his speech at the first ordinary full council meeting in Francistown this week. "The year 2011 also marked deterioration of relations in this council. We saw honourable councillors trading unprintable epithets in the council chamber," he said.

He went on to remind councilors that their primary focus should be the desire to take the council to greater heights where people would be proud of it. "We owe it to the people of Francistown to conduct our business in a responsible and respectable manner. The people of Francistown invested a lot of confidence in us," said the mayor.
