Film on strike to chronicle the reawakening of a nation

The recently suspended public service workers strike will soon be chronicled in a film. Titled A Country Under Siege, the documentary film, to be produced by local filmmaker Billy Kokorwe, will be an hour long, according to a statement from his production company.

The film will portray the strike and "its fascinating role in creating an awakening of the nation in a balanced non-partisan thoroughly engaging manner," the statement said.

Recorded footage of the protesting workers, students and security forces will be used together with interviews with union leaders, union members, political leaders and media practitioners, the statement from BKDS Films said, to tell a "powerful, factual story of how what began as a simple industrial action resulted in the reawakening of a nation."
