Councillors brace for hefty windfall

Over 500 councillors countrywide are rubbing their hands in glee in anticipation of a windfall, after the ongoing review of their ward allowances.

The review of the council ward allowances is expected to be wrapped up next Monday and recommendations submitted to the Minister of Local Government, for implementation.

The Minister of Local Government, Lebonyemang Mokalake, yesterday confirmed he has put together a task force headed by councillors and ministry officials to go around the District Councils to get their suggestions on how the allowances for council wards can be revised.
