South African women's national Under-17 team coach Solly Luvhengo left the UB Stadium in Gaborone a happy man after watching his youthful team demolish hosts Botswana 9-1 in a one-sided FIFA Under-17 Women Championship game played under hot conditions on Saturday.

It was Tshegofatso Makinta who had a field day scoring five goals. The Home Sweepers' attacking midfielder tormented the hosts' defence for the entire game and had it not been for complacency, she could have netted more goals. The other goals came from Kelso Peskin, who scored a hat-trick. Robyn Moodaly also contributed one while Tricia Kootses scored the hosts' consolation goal.

Speaking to The Monitor Sport after the match, Luvhengo said her young girls played well with good attitude and work ethic. "Botswana were compact in the opening minutes but we put pressure on them and they opened up.
