FRANCISTOWN: In a harrowing case of sexual assault, a teenager was allegedly gang raped by five men in less than an hour at Metsi-a-ela settlement in Letlhakane village.
According to Letlhakane station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu his office received a report recently about the incident.
He said the much glorified May 29 ended in tears for a teenager who was travelling alone after curfew time from a local sheeben to her parents’ home.
He stated that the victim who was intoxicated was allegedly attacked by five men who then dragged her to a nearby jungle where they allegedly raped her.
Maphephu added that the suspected rapists passed on the victim from one man to another in a period less than an hour.
He indicated that the victim was not even sure if the five men used protection when they allegedly raped her during the stream line sex.

He indicated that the victim was taken to the clinic and given psychological support by relevant authorities after the traumatic experience.
He urged people especially women to avoid walking at night unaccompanied especially in Metsi-a-ela settlement which is an extension of Tawana ward as it is a crime infested area.
Maphephu said that the search for the group of young men suspected to be between the age of 17 and 19 connected to the gang rape still continues.
He pleaded with the villagers to assist them with any information that could be helpful to their investigations in the matter.
