Lenyatso takes pride in being the only Motswana selling buttercreams both locally and regionally
Making delicious and pretty cakes is not everyone’s cup of tea. Some people struggle to make butter creams for their children’s cakes and cupcakes.

A Motswana-owned bakery Len Bakeries is making butter creams to help all those who are interested in making delicious cakes and cupcakes without difficulties.

The owner of Len Bakeries, Goitseone Lenyatso told Arts & Culture in an interview that their buttercreams are the best ever. She added that she started making buttercream in 2013. She explained that buttercream is a necessary part of every cake. She further pointed out that a cake without buttercream is nothing but bread.

“Our buttercreams were officially launched last week Friday. So far, they are doing great in the market. Their demand is beyond their supply. Our creams are available in five flavours, which are caramel, lemon, vanilla, chocolate and cream cheese. There are many creams which I can expand to but I have to consider the market demand because the ones I make are in demand and most mostly used locally and regionally,” she said.

However, Lenyatso said since the launch customers have been asking for the Swiss meringue buttercream made from egg whites. She also said being a cake baker inspired her to make and sell buttercreams, as she knows the struggles of looking for butter and icing sugar locally. She added that looking for them could be a nightmare. She said her idea to bridge that gap was a problem solver for many bakers.

in being the only Motswana selling buttercreams both locally and regionally. She also stated that their butter is yummy and not too sweet. She also explained that making a perfect recipe like that takes time adding that she took years to perfect her creams which she had to make from the scratch time and again.

Furthermore, just like any business, she said she faces challenges getting the right consistency. Lenyatso added that the right ingredients take time and experience. Another challenge she pointed out is that their raw materials were all imports.

“I urge Batswana to support local companies. Batswana are capable of producing products that can be exported internationally. We have the ability so we only need the financial muscle. Our products are tasty; once one tastes them they will never look elsewhere. They expire after six months. Apart from these buttercreams, we bake various cakes in different flavours such as red velvet, black forest, lemon, vanilla, carrot cake, fruit cake to mention a few,” she noted.

Lenyatso said she also trains people to make cakes both beginners and advanced classes. She concluded that her products are available at Party Friend (Pty) Ltd in Gaborone West Industrial, Francistown, Mahalapye, Maun, Serowe and other villages where individuals sell them. Interested customers can contact her Facebook page Len Bakeries BW for enquiries.
