Two die in suspected love triangle

KOKETSO KGOBOGE
Police in Bobonong are investigating a murder-suicide case in which a man and a woman died whilst the other man was left battling for his life at the Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital. This follows an alleged love triangle that has gone wrong.

Bobonong Police Station commander, superintendent Paul Seopo confirmed the incident that occurred at Marakalalo ward in Molalatau. He said they received the report last Saturday.

A 28-year-old woman of Damochujenaa who works as a shop assistant in the village was attacked and murdered at her rented house, while the 35-year-old man she was with was seriously injured.

According to police investigations, the suspected attacker, who is also deceased, was the father of the woman’s child. The man, believed to be between 35 and 40 years, was found hanging from a tree in a nearby bush at a later time on the fateful day.

Seopo said preliminary investigations point out to the deceased man possibly having known the duo was in the house. The police believe he could have sneaked inside the house through a window and found them sleeping.

He allegedly bashed the two on their heads leaving them for dead in a pool of blood on the bed. The gruesome wounds on their heads suggest he probably used a deadly weapon in the attack. The weapon is yet to be found.

Neighbours discovered the duo in their bad state. The doors to the

crime scene had been left wide-open raising suspicion for the neighbours, who noticed there was no movement or live presence in the homestead for the better part of that morning. They then decided to check out the unusual scene, but after endless knocking at the door further investigation only to find the duo in a horrific and bloody scene.

They reported the matter to the police.

“We found them unconscious and immediately rushed them to Bobonong Hospital where the woman was confirmed dead upon arrival. The man was resuscitated and referred to the Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital where he is recovering,” the police superintendent said.

The bodies of the deceased woman and the man believed to be the father of her child are at the Bobonong Hospital morgue. They are yet to undergo post-mortem.

Still in Bobonong, the police station commander said they were investigating a hit-and-run case after discovering a 38-year-old man left for dead near the Bobonong/Molalatau road on Saturday morning.

“It appears a motorist hit the pedestrian and ran away without reporting. The deceased is at the Bobonong Hospital mortuary, and we are on the hunt of the perpetrator,” Seopo said.
