Botswana Police Commissioner Thebeyame Tsimako yesterday unveiled a new uniform for his department that will be used from the first of next month.

The new uniform - grey trousers, light blue shirt, and baseball caps - will be acquired from different suppliers at a cost of P24million. The Special Constables, and Special Support Group (SSG) will remain with their old uniforms until funds are available to get new uniform for them, the commissioner said.

He said that the new uniform was introduced after officers complained that they felt uncomfortable in the old one as it was not suitable for their field work. The old uniform, which was used during the colonial era will be withdrawn from all police stations.
