PRESS STATEMENT: It is not a practice, neither is it policy for the DCEC to respond to issues that are carried in the media however, we are compelled to straighten misleading and fallacious allegations carried on the Mmegi Online of Friday 30th August 2019 and Mmegi Monitor of Monday 2nd September titled "Morupisi charged with three counts in CMB saga".

This article states that the DCEC was given clearance by His Excellency the President Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi, to serve Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP) Mr. Carter Morupisi with charges and a court order to appear before the magistrate court on Tuesday 3rd September 2019.

The DCEC would like to state as a matter of fact that we have never requested for any clearance from anyone regarding this matter. The mandate of the DCEC is to investigate allegations of corruption and to send the investigation file to the DPP after completion of investigation for advice and possible furtherance.
