Wells, Police IX Sweep Softball Awards

Wells were among the biggest winners at the BoFINet Softball League awards ceremony PIC: KENNEDY RAMOKONE
Wells International men’s team and Police IX women’s side were the biggest winners at the BoFiNet Softball League awards ceremony held in Gaborone on Friday.

Both teams ‘white washed’ all the awards they were nominated for in the evening.  Thabiso Radithobane of Wells and Nametsegang Mathame walked away with the Most Valubale Player (MVP) of the men and women’s leagues respectively.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Botswana Softball Association (BSA) President, Thabo Thamane lauded BoFiNet for its commitment in the sport. He said his committee would thrive to jealously guard the partnership for the improvement of local softball.

“We should give thanks to BoFiNet for choosing softball as its preferred partner for sports. These things do not come easily and we really appreciate to the partnership. This partnership came through because of  the former committee. They have done a great job.  We are basking on the efforts they have done. Softball is going through transitive journey and we promise a good governed and transparent administration,” he said.

For his part BoFiNet Board Chairman, Ratsela Mooketsi assured his

audience of their commitment on softball and lauded the league committee for their professionalism and good governance. “It has been with tremendous pride to have witnessed the sustained professionalism and growth of softball over the past years in the country. In an environment of constrained resources, BoFiNet has found it fit to shoulder the burden of growing the sport that has always been a prominent feature of our sporting fraternity.”

“It is equally worth noting that the management of a National Softball League is no little matter, in fact the management of any sports league, as we have come to note and appreciate is a mammoth task. And the foregoing is not entirely dependent on the availability of financial resources but strong well-managed structures. I would like to commend the Botswana Softball League Executive Committee for delivering a professional, predictable and increasingly competitive product,” Mooketsi said.
