The senior cricket team will play Zimbabwe’s Matebeleland Tuskers in four T20 matches starting this afternoon at the BCA Oval.
Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) fixtures and publicity secretary, Sumod Damodar said the matches were meant to prepare the national side for the ICC World T20 qualifiers to be played in Uganda next month.
“The close association between Cricket Zimbabwe (CZ) through their chairman, Dr Tavengwa Mukuhlani and managing director, Givemore Makoni and Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) has enabled the possibility of establishing closer ties between their Provincial/Franchise teams,” Damodar said.
“The BCA also acknowledges the positive response and efforts from the Matabeleland Tuskers chairman and board through Nicholas Singo.” Botswana made it through to the next round of the World T20 qualifiers
Meanwhile, the women’s team undertook a bilateral tour to Namibia, playing five T20 games in Windhoek. “This was the first tour outside Botswana by the team, after many years and the experience and exposure was overdue. Unfortunately, the team did not fare well in the outcome of the matches played losing all 5 of their encounters.”
