Botswana To Commemorate World Poetry Day

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development entered into a partnership with The Black African Poets Organisation with the main aim being to groom poets and also commemorate International Poetry Day.

Various works of poetry and images of poets will be featured in various materials and forms to promote World Poetry Day.  Botswana poets will also showcase various forms of poetry on the day. Objectives of world poetry day are to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their communities.

The Black African Poets Organisation was established in 2008. The organisation was then focused more on providing corporate performances such as folk poetry, traditional instruments such as katara, segaba, setinkane, nkokwane to mention but a few.
