Ministry backtracks on teachers' allowances

The MoBE had issued a savingram last month, indicating that teachers would be paid P500 per day, which was to be taxed. But the Ministry has decided to revert to the previous arrangement where teachers were paid P500 per day for inter schools competition, P600 sub-zonal competition, P700 for zonal and P800 for national athletics competition.
The MoBE permanent secretary, Bridget John said the Ministry, in collaboration with Botswana Primary Schools Sport Association (BOPSSA) and Botswana Integrated Sport Association (BISA) were engaged in a review of the sports management models.
