Counterfeit P200 Banknotes In Circulation

Bank of Botswana (BoB) has cautioned the public about the existence of counterfeit P200 banknotes in circulation.

The counterfeits are photo/scanned copies of genuine P200 banknotes with serial numbers AB 5961913, AF3545355, AG5493779, AJ305475, AJ1183081, AJ 9573218 and ZZ0498296. 

According to BoB, reported cases of these counterfeits were primarily found in the Thamaga policing area. 

“The public is urged to be vigilant and exercise caution when accepting banknotes from any

source and should closely examine the security features for respective banknotes widely published by the bank,” read a statement from BoB.

Any suspicious banknotes should be reported immediately to the nearest Police Station or BoB offices in Gaborone or Francistown.
