Debswana mine fatal accident investigations still underway

FRANCISTOWN: The investigations in the aftermath of the death of Moemedi Mpho, a Kalcon/Excavator Hire Joint Venture employee based at the Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines, Fines Residue Disposal (OLDM FRD) Project are still ongoing, the mining behemoth has revealed.

Responding to a questionnaire from Mmegi, Debswana’s corporate affairs manager Matshidiso Kamona said that the company at this juncture is constrained to divulge any information about the unfortunate incident.

“At this juncture given the sensitivity of the matter, Debswana is not in a position to divulge any further information. Debswana remains committed to enhancing all efforts geared at ensuring safety across the business. The Debswana board, its management, employees and business partners have continued to reflect on the loss of life with a view to doubling efforts in ensuring the safety of each and every person on site,” said Kamona.
