The Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA), will host the 2018 BICA Graduation and Awards ceremony on October 18, 2018 at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).
The event is held to recognise and celebrate with the graduates and the outstanding individuals in the BICA qualification. Professor Otlogetswe Totolo, the Botswana International University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor, will grace the ceremony as a keynote speaker.
The three BICA Chartered Accountants that will be celebrated are Kealeboga Sepapi, Tshenolo Phirie and Ketshepemang Mothetho, and they will be recognised for completing the education and practical work experience requirement of their Chartered Accountant designation. The qualification of the trio brings the total number of BICA qualified Chartered Accountants to 17, including the 14 graduates who qualified and graduated in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
In addition to the examinations, professional development, ethics and professional scepticism, the BICA Chartered Accountants undergo rigorous structured training for a period of 450 days of Practical Work Experience (PWE) through BICA accredited Authorised Training Employers (ATE). Our 2018 graduates Sepapi, Phirie and Mothetho, gained their PWE with RSM Botswana, KPMG and Deloitte respectively. All the graduates attained over 450 days of practical work experience required to qualify as Chartered Accountants under a Qualified Person Responsible for Training (QPRT), and are therefore employment ready at supervisory level.
The BICA qualified Chartered Accountants
The BICA Council takes this opportunity to congratulate the three BICA Chartered Accountants for their well-deserved success and are now eligible to apply for Associate membership of BICA and wishes them the best in their professional endeavours. Furthermore, the Council applauds the efforts of all students who will be recognised for their excellent work across all the individual module papers in the different stages of the BICA qualification.
The institute further wishes to thank all the stakeholders who were involved in this milestone and remains committed to developing more Chartered Accountants (CA) in an endeavour to ‘support Botswana’s economy through a dynamic and ethical accountancy profession’.
