Once the leading medium of bulk cash transactions, cheques have been gradually overtaken by technological advances such as electronic fund transfer, point of sale "swiping," and other conveniences required by the "now generation".

The cheque might live to see another day as Bankers Association of Botswana CEO, Oabile Mabusa, reveals to Staff Writer, MBONGENI MGUNI that plans are underway to shorten its settlement period.
