Members warned against riding the coattails of BNF

Botswana National Front (BNF) treasurer Noah Salakae recently advised members at their conference in Rakops to stop using the party’s name to solicit funds for personal use.

 “It is important to also note that party members through appropriate party structures are free to develop their own fundraising strategies for the benefit of their own interest and that of the party in general, provided they account for it. Those who ask for money in the party’s name must stop. This does not only compromise party growth, it is illegal and highly unethical,” Salakae said.

“Gala dinners remain the backbone of party finances. Gala dinners involve selling of tickets, more often than not on credit. This often leaves the party in bad and irrecoverable debt.”
