Toyota leads as over 50,000 more cars registered in 2017

Toyota remains the country's most popular vehicle brand, with the Japanese carmaker leading the 53, 202 new vehicle registrations recorded by transport authorities in 2017.

Statistics Botswana numbers released earlier today also indicate that the total vehicle population rose nearly six percent in 2017 to 515,396 vehicles, the majority of these being Toyota passenger vehicles. 

Honda was the second most popular brand registered last year, continuing its climb over previously fashionable makes such as Volkswagen, Mazda and Ford. In the fourth quarter of the year, at least 85% of the new registrations were of used vehicles, a trend that generally applies to the whole year.
