Acappella festival on the offing

Victory voices
Music to Life organisation will host its very first big event, Acafest, on June 2, 2018 at Stanbic Bank Piazza. The purpose of this event will be to celebrate Acappella music, while also recognising the country’s Acappella groups.

The organisation, Music to Life was born from the passion to use music to make a positive change in the lives of Batswana in a number of ways. Amongst other things, the organisation scouts and recruits talent nationwide for the purpose of nurturing and developing it. They also facilitate crowd funding for local music artists and relevant community projects.

Their earlier projects date far back to 2007, when they held a small-scale talent show but have now decided to do things a bit differently from usual norm. The event organiser, who is also a renowned gospel artist, Frank Lyn told Arts & Culture of their desire to grow, hence introducing a large-scale event in the form of ‘Acafest’.

“I feel that Acappella music is underappreciated and so this event seeks to promote the type of music while also giving various groups a chance to showcase their talent”. He said they also

want to use the event to fund raise for their organisation in order to purchase instruments and also improve their infrastructure.

Music to Life is based in Tlokweng but has a nationwide reach. All interested parties on venturing in music are encouraged to visit them to discuss and help groom them into the artists they dream of becoming. Admission and training is free and so Music to Life appeals to society to give a helping hand to ensure that more children realise their dream.

The show, which is expected to turn into an annual event, is expected to run between 7pm and 12pm and tickets are available at web-tickets outlets. Groups to perform at the event are Victory voices, HIS vocals and Maatla gospel choir just to name a few. Prices for the tickets are P50 for students, P80 in advance, P100 at the door and P300VIP status.
