FRANCISTOWN: Activities were galore at the just ended Business Botswana (BB) northern trade fair.

The fair did not only attracted entrepreneurs, but also people from various fields who came to spice up activities of the trade fair.  The interim chairperson of Setobetobe Cycling Club, Pako Lenkopane said  they were invited by BB to participate in the bike challenge.

“The races were divided into three categories: Five kilometres fun ride, 30 light challenge and 60 kilometres challenge. We started from BB grounds then passed through major roads in the city via Tati Siding to Tonota,” he said.

Lenkopane said the aim of the races was to sensitise the public about safe cycling and the importance of sharing the road with cyclists and other road users.

“The race was inclusive of all types of bikes: mountain bikes, road bikes and humbers. It was the first initiative by BB

to invite bikers to the trade fair. We hope that next year the races will be more organised and will include more bikers and individuals,” said Lenkopane.

The interim chairperson of Setobetobe, the only Francistown-based cycling club, appealed to sponsors in particular the business community to support their club.

“We are an affiliate of Botswana Cycling Association (BCA) and we attend most races around the country. Our club has been in existence since 2015. We also have females in our club but only one women took part in the race today,” he added.
