April Lives Her Dream Through Sedi Oil

Sedi Skin Care Products
Having been in the beauty industry for more than 20 years aroused Kefilwe April to pursue her passion of manufacturing beauty products. The products, under brand 'Sedi Skincare' suits the diverse skin types.

Sedi Skincare is a range of fragrance free products created by a professional formulator and dermatologist with approved the SPF lotion.

The products, all-purpose serum, SPF 30 face lotion and foaming cleanser help to fade away dark patches and even-out the skin tone. The products contain antioxidant skin nourishing oils as well as offers UVA and UVB protection, intensive serum with anti-ageing and hydrating ingredients.

According to April, it was four years ago when she decided to conduct some research on the beauty products. She started by conceptualising what she wanted noting that she had financial constraints because she did everything from scratch using her own resources. “I realised that it was time for me to start formulating products that would suit diverse skin colours because mostly we encounter challenges in trying to get the perfect products for our skin,” she said.

April said she wanted three products that people can appreciate and use hence why she started investigating the products, which was not quite of a problem for her as she has a science background. She then mixed the ingredients - a process, which she said, took her almost a year, as she was going back and forth testing every outcome in search of a perfect product.  After being satisfied with the product,

April said she then took the product for quality assurance where products were exposed to the sun and the other products in the freezer for three months.

“This whole process was to see if the products cannot react under such circumstances in cases when we want to export or even at home because we know that we have different seasons,” she said. She then engaged professionals to test her products for irritation, SPF, even brand experts to help her come up with attractive products.

The whole process took her three years to finally come up with the products, and this she says was worthwhile as she attained her goal. “Coming up with a perfect product sometimes takes a lot of time and as a determined entrepreneur my focus was just on attaining my goal rather than the time I took,” she said.

Her dream is to set up cosmetics production plant locally as now she has to process everything in South Africa because she couldn’t find the expertise locally.

The antioxidant nourishing oils of Moringa Oleifera seed oil, Ximenia Americana seed oil and adansonia digit at a seed oil (Baobab oil) have been incorporated into the products.

These oils work synergistically to provide strong anti-ageing, barrier and barrier strengthening benefits to the skin.
