Ex-karateka wins fencing competition

Former karateka, Koketso Masena is the new seibra weapon fencing champion after beating defending champion, Laone Selejang during the National Championships held in Gaborone on Saturday.

The Botswana Amateur Fencing Society (BAFS) competition, held at Ditshupo Hall, saw Masena come up against multi gold medal winner, Selejang of Tlokweng Fencing Club.

After the close contest,  Masena admitted the bout was difficult as he was battling with masters from the pools until the final. He said he managed to beat fencers who taught him the sport, which is a huge achievement, that would inspire him. He said in the past he had to settle for either bronze or silver.

The contest had 10 beautiful young girls as finalists and unfortunately only one could wear the crown.The judges picked Anicia Gaothuse. To all those who feel their contestant should have won ahead of Anicia for whatever reason, hardly; the judges found Anicia to be the best among the best, so desist from disrespecting our newly crowned queen on social media or anywhere else, for that matter!
