Maun taximan allegedly rapes passenger

MAUN: Worrying incidents of public transport drivers’ committing serious crimes came to the fore after a taxi driver allegedly raped a 17-year-old passenger here.

The sexual attack allegedly happened after the girl, who had booked the driver, had to be dropped off at her place following a night out. Assistant superintendent of Maun police , Samuel Kgomo told Mmegi that they are investigating the case in which a 22-year-old man allegedly raped a teenaged girl.

He alleged that the girl had asked to be dropped off at her place, but instead the taxi driver, who was in the company of a male friend, drove to his family home in Thito ward. He said upon arriving, the man allegedly forced the woman into the house and then sexually attacked her against her will.
