Captured fugitive, Adolphius Mogakolodi Legae, whose crimes and escape touched off a nationwide manhunt featured on television and social media, is still in the hands of South African police as their local peers scramble to extradite him.

Legae was arrested on Sunday in South Africa’s North West province after escaping local law enforcement in an intensive manhunt for two weeks. He faces life in prison for a series of armed robbery, rape and shooting cases.

“Together with South African police, we are currently processing the extradition documents for Legae and are hopeful that very soon he will be extradited,” Botswana Police Service’s spokesperson, assistant commissioner Witness Bosija told Mmegi yesterday.
