We went through stumbling blocks and huddles together, holding hands, assisting each other to go up the mountains. We may not have reached the mountain tops, but we went heights, and significant heights for that matter.
You are really true compatriots of your union and the struggle. You still could have opted to abandon your union for it is voluntary to be a member, however you opted not to, but to die for that which you believe in and or that which your union has resolved to pursue.
It’s true, we yesterday had a meeting with Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM) regarding the extension of the 3% and 4% to you comrades.
At the said follow-up meeting, DPSM gave us letters where they were committing
The federation contacted its attorneys and arrived at a decision that there is nothing prejudicial about withdrawing the cases so that employees could be awarded the 3% and 4%.
We then immediately yesterday responded to the DPSM letter accepting to withdraw the said cases and proposed a settlement agreement that include payment of back pays. We are expecting this matter to be finalised on Monday with respect to agreeing on the terms of settlement. Once again we remain forever thankful to you comrades.
