Sibilev: Diplomatic relations between Russia and Botswana were established in 1970 after the exchange of notes between the Embassy of the Soviet Union and the High Commission of Botswana in London. Six years later the Soviet Embassy was established in Gaborone to become one of the few foreign diplomatic missions in Botswana at the time. Over time, our bilateral ties have become more solid and diverse, which entail new tasks for our governments and for the Embassy.
