Government is looking to alternative sources of energy

Government is finalising a renewable energy strategy aimed at attracting domestic and foreign investments in alternative energy sources in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation. The strategy is expected to be completed this month.

Presenting the 2017/18 Budget Speech before Parliament on Monday, the minister of Finance and Economic Development, Kenneth Matambo said the use of solar energy has been identified as a potential alternative source of electricity supply in the country.

“Government in collaboration with the German company is undertaking a Green Energy feasibility study aimed at providing alternative sources of electricity,” said Matambo.
